Robotics is one of the growing technologies of the era. Robots are being used in vast number of applications. The purpose of this competition is advancement in the field of Robotics by giving the contestants a real sense of problem-solving technical design and ingenuity.
National Engineering Robotics Contest (NERC) is a project to promote research in robotics and its related fields in Pakistan. It is conducted by NUST EM&E College every year. The universities from all over Pakistan participate in it. This year there were 105 teams from all over the country and this is the first time that along with Headstart school three other schools were part of this big competition.
The aim of this year’s contest was to build an autonomous robot which is capable of moving in a specific arena and is able to place objects at predefined points in the arena.
Headstart school won two prizes in Lego category. UET Peshawar achieved first position, Team “Cyber Invictus” from Headstart school stood second; the team members were Immad uddin Saqib, Adil Aslam, Shayan Tanvir, Omar Raza and Daniyal Beg and the third prize was won by Beacon House school system.
The Youngest participant award was also won by “Daniyal Beg” grade7 student from Headstart.
Three teams from Headstart worked hard for one month to build the required robot. The students got a chance to show their skills on such a huge platform. They while giving interview to the media appreciated the efforts made by the school in providing them the opportunity to be part of this event.
